Women's Ministries

Our Purpose

The purpose of the Women's Ministries is:

To glorify God in our service to one another;

To encourage women of all ages to walk in close relationship with Jesus Christ;

To provide opportunities to build friendships with each other;

And to equip the women of Troy Christian Chapel to serve others.

Peggy and Shari

To prepare God's people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.

— Ephesians 4:12-13

Ladies' Fellowship Christmas Breakfast
The purpose of the Ladies' Fellowship is to serve the ladies of TCC through prayer, encuragement, discipleship and fellowship through various events and activities, so that we can become true friends and sisters in the Lord, in fervent communication with Jesus Christ, ultimately striving to be a fruitful witness and servant in the furthering of God's kingdom here on earth. As the Ladies' Fellowship Committee we are a servant group concerned about the women of our congregation; intent on the Biblical command to hospitality; the social engine that connects the women of our church; necessary because our Christian faith is relational.

The Committee meets monthly to review the needs of the women of Troy Christian Chapel and plan activities that will encourage fellowship and growth in Christ including Showers. Contacts: Diane Muller (Chairman), Patti Pilgrim (Secretary and Treasurer), Sandy Bamsey (Showers Ministry), Peggy Lewis and Sharon Enright (Pastoral Presence).

Tuesday Morning Bible Study
Meeting every Tuesday morning from 9:00 to 11:30, the Tuesday Morning Bible Study is the place to learn about God, about yourself and about how to trust. The women who lead this study understand the delights and trials of motherhood and the challenge of what it means to be a godly wife. We have discovered how we can cope with trials and how God's character is revealed in us, his wonderful creations. We are reminded that we are first women of God and, if we can focus on getting that right, the rest will follow. Our current study is Experiencing God by Henry and Richard Blackaby and Claude King. Contact: Jeannie Jones.

Lydia Group
This Bible study group meets every other Thursday evening from September through February. Created to accommodate daytime work schedules, the Lydia Group is composed of women of varied career backgrounds—including stay-at-home moms—who relish digging deep into God's word. We have done topical studies, book studies, and expository verse-by-verse studies of specific books of the Bible. We learn together, pray together and share each other's joys and burdens. Our current study is The Patriarchs - Encountering the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob by Beth Moore. Contacts: Linda Kilburn, Sharon Enright and Lee Ann Thal.

Prayer Chain
The Prayer Chain offers all those with prayer needs a means to have collective prayer on their behalf. It is made up of individuals who have made a commitment to pray for the needs of others. Any need, however big or small, is welcome. We believe in the power of prayer and have seen how it can change lives when Christ is at the center. Please contact the church office with any prayer requests you may have. The Prayer Chain falls under both Women's Ministries and the Barnabas Ministry, so both men and women are invited to participate. Contacts: Bev TerMarsch, Gretta Todd and Christine Wehrli.

Shower Ministry
This ministry provides the women of Troy Christian Chapel with an opportunity to honor first-time moms and brides-to-be and to celebrate with them their new role in life. Showers, with gifts and dessert, are held in the Fellowship Hall. All the women of the congregation are welcome to attend, as are friends and family of the guest of honor. Contact: Sandy Bamsey or Sharon Enright.

Meals Ministry
Last year, the Meals Ministry delivered over 50 meals to families who were in need because of the birth of a new baby or due to illness or death. Those who receive the meals know that this ministry is about much more than meals. The love and care that are put into preparing and delivering the meal tell the family receiving it that they are cared about and thought about by their church family. The commitment is flexible and no cooking skills are needed! Families are just as happy to receive carry-out as a home-cooked meal. Contact: Donna Marcella.

Pastor Donna's Quilt Comfort Quilt Ministry

Handicrafters
Our meetings are open to anyone who would like to come and spend a relaxing visit with other Christian women. This provides an ideal opportunity for you to introduce your friends to Troy Christian Chapel in a fun and informal setting. Bring your favorite craft and work on it while sharing fellowship with other women. We get together in the evening on the third Tuesday of the month, September through May. Contact: Lynn Saylor.

Garden Ministry
The Garden Ministry, is dedicated to beautify the Chapel grounds. We plant and maintain the flowers at the entrances and around the sign. If you enjoy doing light gardening and spending time with other gardeners, you are the ideal candidate to come and join us. Contact: Denise Woods.

Scrapbook Night
More than just scrapbooking, these evenings have turned into a craft-fest. You can bring your scrapbook material or other craft items—we've had knitting, sewing, jewelry making and even coupon clipping! Come with a beverage and a snack to share for an informal time to get together and work on your craft or just roam around and chat with others. It is a great way for beginners to learn the art of scrapbooking. By request, we have also met for day-long scrapfests. Contacts: Terry Arthur and Julie Hampel.

Fit and Faithful
This weekly workout program is great for any age or fitness level. We meet every Tuesday evening to exercise to various fitness videos. Contact: Lori Curtis.

M.O.P.S.
The MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) group is a special place at which you can meet like-minded women also passing through the unique "parenting" season of life. You will have a chance not only to make new friends, but to discover a wealth of helpful hints and smarter strategies to deal with the challenges of motherhood. Meetings are held at the Chapel on the first and third Thursdays of each month, September - May, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. Experience a dynamic, inviting environment where you can come—just as you are—to be refreshed and inspired while your children are lovingly cared for in our MOPPETS program.
